Dental Tips Of The Day (as seen on our
Facebook page "Steuterman and Steuterman Dental")
Tip
#1: When you visit your dentist you need to walk out of the office with more information
then you came in with. That will allow you to make the best
informed decision about your dental health, dental care that is best for you. If that is not happening, you should rethink
your relationship with your dentist
Tip#2:
Dental disease, either cavities or gum disease, can not be cured. Only managed. The dentist and the
patient must communicate with each other to control dental disease.
Tip #3: Dental insurance is a very valuable benefit, but only if it is used.
Dental insurance is designed to offer the greatest benefit for prevention, so using your dental benefits to prevent cavities
and gum disease is huge!! The easiest and least expensive dental care is prevention. Everyone deserves good dental health,
so talk with your dentist about the best levels of prevention that benefit you. You are the most imporatant person you know!!
Tip#4: From my experiences, the single most costly
dental procedure a young person discovers after leaving home and starting a new job is the removal of impacted wisdom teeth.
It is far smarter to have the discussion with your dentists about removing impacted wisdom teeth while one is covered by the...ir parents dental insurance. Having the wisdom teeth removed
by a competent surgeon under some form of sedation puts the problem teeth behind you for the rest of your life.
Tip# 5: Those adults
between 18 and 45 who do take the time to visit their dentist for a cleaning at least 2X a year will absolutely have an overall
reduction in dental disease, far less time away from work and family with much less out of pocket expenses. A healthy life
is all about prevention because you are the most important person you know.
Dental Tip #6: Whitening
of teeth only occurs because of the chemicals in the whitening gels. Using a light is a myth.
Dental
tip #7: There is no such thing as a permanent filling. All caps, white and silver fillings wear out and
need to be replaced. Only a dental exam by a dentist with necessary x-rays can determine the life of a filling. If problems
are not discovered early, the solutions are always more involved.
Dental tip #8:
Anyone who visits a Dentist with the expectation of receiving dental care is entitled to an explanation, in simple terms,
of the proposed treatment plan and the associated costs. If you do not understand the plan, do not accept the treatment. Get
a second opinion!
